Gems Forges Links With Local Basketball Pioneers

Sheffield’s Gems Hygiene is helping the cream of women’s basketball clean up their act with brand new home and away kits.
The leading supplier of cleaning materials is the official kit sponsor for City of Sheffield Hallam Hatters’ 2009/2010 season – the first women’s basketball team in the country.
Hallam Hatters will be taking the Gems brand around the UK, as the team bids to retain its position at the top of basketball’s league tables. The ladies have started the season on a winning streak and are already through to the quarter finals of the Women’s National Trophy, which will see them play Mansfield Giants on December 6.
Gems’ managing director, Dave Campbell, is a keen basketball fan and a supporter of the Hatters’ successful junior development programme. He said: “We are extremely pleased to be associated with a local sports team that has enjoyed consistent success for so many years. I am sure the Hatters will be excellent ambassadors for Gems, as we share similar success stories. Despite competing in very different arenas, we are both at the top of our game and intend to retain this position for many years to come.”
City of Sheffield Hatters was formed in the early 1960s and has dominated women’s basketball since the 1990s. The team provides playing and coaching opportunities for women and girls of all ages and more than 150 players have gone on to represent their country.
