Gems Steps Up Fight Against Slippery Wet Areas

Gems Steps Up Fight Against Slippery Wet Areas

Sheffield’s Gems Hygiene is highlighting ways to combat the health and safety risks associated with slippery build-up around swimming pools.

Step Safe from Gems is suitable for the daily removal of body fats, water scale and bacteria in all wet areas, leaving a safe, slip-resistant finish.

When left untreated, wet floors become covered in a slippery film, which can be difficult to remove without affecting a swimming pool’s PH. Step Safe eliminates surface grease, yet has no impact on the hypochlorite ions used to keep pools free from live microorganisms. It can even be applied while the facility is in use.

Step Safe can be pre-diluted or used neat with agitation or brush equipment. Once the product has been wiped off with a clean cloth, the treated area is notably less slippery than before. Its ultra-low foaming properties make it ideal for use around jacuzzis, although it is also suitable for shower cubicles, changing rooms and other wet areas.

Sarah Wade, Gems’ marketing manager, said: “Slippery surfaces around the edges of swimming pools can be extremely dangerous. Step Safe efficiently and cost-effectively eliminates the hazard, allowing visitors and employees to pass through wet areas with confidence in public facilities such as health clubs, sports centres, swimming pools and spas.”
